Change began in 1923 for Class of 41 who were home delivered to a world lit by fire

Flying over wheat country stork indexed on Oberlin standpipe then searched for the right home

1929 Oberlin Mill burned down, new grade school opened and we started kindergarten

Stock market crashed in 1929 and drought followed in mid 1930’s

we were sent home before noon when dust clouds came from the south – before it got dark

Class of 41 began in old and finished in new high school, Sup. Hawks helped plan new PWA built high school

Cars changed and Old grade school bell became part of football field entrance.

Dirt Main street was paved brick before class of 41 arrived -- to join band in 1936

1936 Bert Hostinski led Oberlin band, in home made uniforms to win tri-state contest in Enid OK.

Then to win prize money in 1938 contest in Colby paying for new band uniforms.

Harvest methods changed and Model-T was resurrected to haul band instruments

1926 Atwater Kent Radio with speaker

Volume Dial & On-Off switch for 1926 Atwater Kent Radio

This radios was equipped with speakers and powered with household electricity

Early radios were equipped with an A battery to power tubes and B battery to power plate and grid

Replaced by 1939 Radio I took this kind to military service.

MODEL-T FORD

Electricity applied to horsepower

Late models included generator for electrical power to headlights and starter

magnets on flywheel generated magneto current to fire spark plugs.

Jacked up rear wheel served as flywheel when crank starting using Magneto for electricity
