Rep. Barclay Announces Bid for Re-Election

            State Rep. Richard L. ”Dick” Barclay of Rogers has announced his intention to seek re-election to the District 13 seat in the House of Representatives.

            A Republican, Barclay is In his seventh term. The district Includes Rogers, and Esculapia and Walnut townships.

            Barclay serves on the House Revenue and Taxation Committee, the House City. County and Local Auditing committee and the Legislative Joint Auditing Committee. He also serves on the House Rules Committee and the Legislative Joint Performance Review Committee.

            During his service. Barclay has sponsored legislation on tax reform, education standards and funding and economic development. He helped gain approval for the establishment of Northwest Arkansas Community College and supported funding for the relocation of U.S. 71 .

            “It is: important that the people of this district continue to have a representative who can help people deal with the various agencies in state government,”  Barclay said of his candidacy. "It is also important for Rogers, Benton County and Northwest Arkansas to continue to have a strong voice in Little Rock.”

            A certified public accountant, Barclay is a principal with the accounting firm, Barclay, Yarbrough and Scott.  He is treasurer and director of the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce, a director of the Rogers Chamber of Commerce and a director of Federal Savings Bank of Rogers.  A former member of the Rogers City Council, Barclay is also a past chairman of the Rogers Parks Commission, is past president of the Rogers United Fund and the Rogers Lions Club.

            Barclay is a member of the First Christian Church of Rogers. He and his wife, Jan, have three children.
